The assistance of numerous volunteers is essential for various tasks during the The Wall That Heals’ arrival in Hawai’i County. We will need volunteers to help assemble The Wall upon its arrival, provide support at the event site throughout its stay by guiding visitors and addressing their questions. Additionally, volunteers will play a crucial role in disassembling the wall before it embarks on its journey to the next location. Your dedication and support will be deeply appreciated in ensuring the success of this meaningful event. Please sign up using the links below.

1. The Wall That Heals - Set up / Assembly Volunteers. 30-35 able-bodied volunteers needed to unload the truck, erect the frame, and build The Wall. Volunteers must sign up for the entire time slot. Lunch will be provided.

2. The Wall That Heals - Onsite Display Volunteers. Six to eight volunteers are needed per shift needed for each four hour shift. Volunteer training will take place at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, January 23, 2024. Attendance is strongly encouraged.

   1. Wall Volunteers (4-6 per shift)

      • Greet Visitors

      • Assist with finding names and conduct name rubbings at The Wall

      • Serve as expert regarding layout, facts, and stories (will be trained)

   2. Visitor Tent (1-2 per Shift)

      • Act as Receptionist

      • Answer questions about The Wall, look up names, and hand out brochures

   3. Mobile Education Center (1-2 per shift)

      • Share information about Hometown Heroes, In Memory Honor Roll, and Mobile Education Center

      • Draw attention to various exhibits to engage visitors

3. The Wall That Heals - Disassemble / Take Down. 30-35 able-bodied volunteers needed to dismantle the exhibit and carefully pack the truck. Volunteers must sign up for the entire time slot. Dinner will be provided.

   There is no age restriction for volunteers, however, if you are under 18 a parent, guardian, coach, teacher, etc. must be present during the shift. All volunteers will be required to sign The County of Hawai’i waiver form.
